Isolated children after a traumatic event are at a higher risk for long-term negative mental health effects. Even though school is not in session on site, the Handle with Care Initiative is still working across the state to provide everyone a fair and just opportunity to protect, heal, and thrive. School teachers and counselors will be able to connect with the family and provide critical positive supports.
