CATCH-UP

Improving Access to COVID-19 Testing in Oklahoma Communities

The aim of Project CATCH-UP was to support the organizing of community-based COVID-19 testing events for vulnerable populations across Oklahoma and to provide guidance on social, ethical, legal, behavioral, and economic perspectives to testing in our state. The Public Health Institute of Oklahoma (PHIO) collaborated with The University of Oklahoma Health Science Center’s Oklahoma Clinical and Translational Science Institute to implement this project across the state of Oklahoma.

The CATCH- UP program generated 49 Testing Site Partners, hosted around 400 community-designed testing events, and administered almost 7,500 COVID-19 tests throughout 2021. Through NIH funding, the project compensated Testing Site Partners for their work by providing community reinvestment funds to further support COVID-19-related morbidity and mortality mitigation interventions. These Incentive Funds resulted in nearly $1 million reinvested into rural and marginalized communities in Oklahoma for continued COVID-19 prevention and health promotion.
